How to quickly identify signs of wear or damage to a hydraulic hose?

Hydraulic hoses play a vital role in many industrial equipment and mechanical systems. They are responsible for transmitting high-pressure liquids to drive various hydraulic components to work properly. However, due to long-term high pressure, frequent bending, friction, and harsh environments, hydraulic hoses are prone to wear or damage. Timely and accurate identification of these signs is extremely important for ensuring the safe operation of equipment, avoiding accidents, and reducing maintenance costs.
Appearance inspection is the first step to identify wear or damage to hydraulic hoses. Carefully observe the surface of the hose. If there are obvious scratches, cuts, wear marks, or bulges, deformations, etc., it may mean that the structural integrity of the hose has been damaged. For example, when the hose comes into contact with sharp objects or is improperly pulled during installation, it is easy to produce scratches and cuts, and these parts are very likely to rupture and leak under high pressure. The bulge phenomenon is usually caused by damage to the steel wire braid or cord layer inside the hose, resulting in uneven local pressure. This is a very dangerous signal that the hose may burst at any time.
Checking the connection parts of the hose should not be ignored. The connection part is a relatively weak link in the hydraulic system. If there are signs of looseness, leakage, aging or damage of the seal at the joint, it should be taken seriously immediately. Leakage may be caused by the joint nut not being tightened, the sealing surface being uneven or the seal being worn, which will not only cause a waste of hydraulic oil, but also cause the system pressure to drop, affecting the normal operation of the equipment. At the same time, long-term leakage may also cause pollution to the surrounding environment and even cause safety accidents such as fire.
In addition, paying attention to the change in the flexibility of the hydraulic hose is also an important basis for identifying its health status. Under normal circumstances, the hydraulic hose should have a certain flexibility and be able to bend freely within the allowable bending radius without obvious resistance or abnormal deformation. If the hose is found to become stiff, difficult to bend or cracks appear when bending, this may be due to the aging, hardening or chemical erosion of the rubber material inside the hose. In this case, the fatigue resistance and pressure resistance of the hose will be greatly reduced, and it is easy to break.
In addition to the above conventional inspection methods, some professional tools and technical means can also be used to more accurately detect the degree of wear or damage of the hydraulic hose. For example, an ultrasonic detector can be used to detect whether the steel wire braided layer inside the hose is broken or corroded; a pressure test can directly evaluate the sealing performance and pressure resistance of the hose at the rated pressure.
In industrial production, being highly vigilant of signs of wear or damage to the Hydraulic Hose and timely detecting and identifying them is a key link in ensuring the safe and stable operation of the hydraulic system. By establishing a sound regular inspection system, strengthening operator training and awareness education, and combining advanced detection technology and tools, various safety accidents caused by hydraulic hose failures can be effectively prevented, the reliability and service life of the equipment can be improved, and a solid guarantee can be provided for the production and operation activities of the enterprise.
